SCREAMING EAGLES COMMANDER UNDER ARREST FOR WAR CRIMES

Colonel Opson Mathis, commander of the 1st Screaming Eagles, has been taken into custody by AFFS security forces after an incident on New Canton two weeks ago. After the surrender of a company of Capellan 'Mechwarriors, Colonel Mathis ordered them sealed into their cockpits and drowned in a river. Soldiers of the 7th Almach Foot Regiment witnessed the proceedings, and alerted Colonel Roberta Gathos, the 7th's commander, who took Colonel Mathis into custody for transportation to New Avalon to stand trial. It should be emphasized that this was an isolated incident, and the personnel responsible have been removed from command.

VICTORY WITH HONOR ON WHEEL

Battle recordings of the engagement of Wheel have been cleared by the Lyran Intelligence Corps to be released to the general public. The battle for Wheel, which concluded nearly a month ago, is already being lauded as the defining moment of Operation Gotterdammerung. Stripped of his supporting forces on order of the Coordinator, Colonel Heller, of the Combine-contracted Tooth of Ymir, challenged Hansen's Roughriders and the First Narhal Raiders to a 'Mech battle to minimize militia and civilian casualties.

In a set-piece battle reminiscent of days gone by, Roughrider and Raider 'Mechs clashed with the Ymir across the caldera of an extinct volcano, with the Combine mercenaries conceding defeat and retreating off-planet.

TIKONOV FALLS TODAY!

Marshall George Powell of the Crucis Lancers Brigade announce the surrender of the last major center of resistance on Tikonov earlier today. The world, a capital of one of the five Commonalities of the Capellan confederation, was taken by a concerted effort from all eight Crucis Lancer Regimental Combat Teams, one of the largest military forces to be assembled in decades. Pavel Ridzik, ruler of Tikonov and one of Chancellor Liao's top military advisor, is presumed to have escaped the capture and fled deeper into the Confederation.

THEODORE KURITA ROUTS LYRANS ON VEGA

Colonel Theodore Kurita easily evaded Lyran clutches on Marfik, and arrived on Vega in time to turn the battle against the 3rd Lyran Guards. Masterfully outmaneuvering the jackbooted merchants, the 14th Legion of Vega has isolated one battalion, while the rest of the Guards have abandoned their comrades to their fate and fled offworld. The Coordinator has expressed his pleasure in his son's performance, and urges other loyal Soldiers of the Combine to do the same.

DRAGON TAKES GALTOR THUMB, DRAGOONS STILL HOLDING ON

Draconis Combine line regiments have taken the worlds in the Galtor Thumb region, the scene of fierce fighting a decade ago, but have not struck anywhere else along the borders of the Draconis March. Meanwhile, on Crossing, the Wolf's Dragoons still hold out against a vastly superior DCMS force. AFFS representatives are unwilling to comment on a possible relief mission for the Dragoons.

NEW YEAR, NEW VICTORIES

According to representatives of the AFFS, the Capellan Confederation has now been completely bisected by the capture of New Canton and Menkalinan, leaving what remains of the Tikonov Commonality near Terra completely cut off from the rest of the Confederation. On the Combine front, Wolf's Dragoons have repelled two major assaults, forcing the DCMS back to their borders, and to all reports the LCAF advance is proceeding much faster than anyone expected.

Military forces of the Duchy of Andurien have violated Capellan space! These attackers of our erstwhile ally, the Free Worlds League, have already committed several atrocities, including massacring citizen-soldiers recovering from their wounds on the Davion front in a military hospital. His Celestial Wisdom demands the withdrawal of Andurien forces immediately, and threatens dire retribution similar to that which is already due to the rats of the Federated Suns.

Battlemechs of the 5th Sword of Light are believed have introduced deadly chemical weapons to the water supply on Northwind, poisoning many soldiers of the 5th Deneb Light Cavalry. The planet's defenders, which also included the elite mercenaries of Team Banzai, were only spared by the timely arrival of all four regiments of the Northwind Highlanders. The Highlanders, under contract to the Capellan Confederation for so long most considered them full House troops, apparently entered into negotiations with Prince Hanse Davion late last year, and have been given back their homeworld in exchange for their service.

Pavel Ridzik, former commander of the CCAF, and Prince's Champion Ardan Sortek made a joint announcement today declaring the creation of the Free Tikonov Republic, a new territory made up of much of the old Tikonov Commonality. Opponents have ridiculed the new state as a mere puppet of Hanse Davion, but most people agree that Ridzik is not a man to be easily controlled, and point to the gaining strength of the Tyr Resistance Movement as evidence that long-oppressed regions are finally approaching independence.

Prince Hanse Davion of the Federated Suns, announced his support today for the formation of the new Free Tikonov Republic, but tempered his enthusiasm with sadder news. He had just received word of the death of Michael Hasek-Davion, Duke of New Syrtis and Lord of the Capellan March, at the hands of the Maximilian Liao, Chancellor of the Confederation.

"The Duke had traveled to Sian in secret at the beginning of the lull, in an attempt to negotiate a cease-fire that would save countless lives on both sides. Sadly, his belief that Chancellor Liao would accept such a proposal was naive, and he was killed by the Chancellor's own hand."

The Duke's title will pass to his son, Morgan Hasek-Davion, who unlike his father is a staunch supporter of the Prince. There has been some speculation that Duke Michael was actually executed, as he had widely-known ambitions for the throne, but it is highly unlikely that his son would countenance such an act. Morgan has already left for New Syrtis to assume his father's title, and says he plans to tour the Capellan March to reassure his people.

DCMS forces under the command of Warlord Grieg Samsonov have launched a renewed offensive against Wolf's Dragoons, cornering the survivors on Caldera. Even as we speak, a multi-regimental force is closing in on Tartarus Caldera, where the last of the Dragoons are trapped. Thus ends the year-long treachery of this hated mercenary unit.

Draconis forces fled Crossing last week ahead of the arrival of the 1st Robinson Rangers, ending their year-long series of running battles with Wolf's Dragoons. The famed multi-regimental mercenary unit is now only a shadow of its former strength, but the gratitude of the entire Draconis March goes out to them for single-handedly stalling the DCMS offensive.

Even now, our nation's coffers are poured into the factories supplying the LCAF's Operation Gotterdammerung, prying the Combine's sandal off of the backs of the proud people of Rasalhague. But why have Prince Davion and Archon Steiner overlooked the oppressed peoples closer to home? The Isle of Skye has been unfairly occupied by Steiner jackboots since the fall of the Star League more than two centuries ago! Stop wasting our treasure on yet another Succession War. The initial Davion offensive was targeted at the Tikonov Commonality, the most exposed region of Confederation space. With it gone, the AFFS is likely to look for other easy pickings, and here we are, stabbing deep into the territory of the new Duke Morgan Hasek-Davion. FEDERATED SUNS INTERDICTED FOR DESTRUCTION OF SARNA HPG

Earlier this month, during the invasion of the planet Sarna, in the Capellan Confederation, Federated Suns troops launched an unprovoked attack against the Sarna HPG array, killing dozens of ComStar staff and causing severe damage. In response to this dastardly action, the First Circuit of the Order of ComStar hereby withdraws all communications rights from the Federated Suns. HPG facilities in Suns territory are even now being turned from the heavens, their shrouded dish arrays a reminder to all of the heinous actions of their leaders.

Combine forces have won a great victory on Stanzach, breaking the defensive lines of the 8th and 12th Donegal Guards and driving them back. Credit for the victory is being attributed to the brave warriors of the 9th Pesht Regulars, and the Coordinator is reported to have sent his personal congratulations to them. The 13th Rasalhague Regulars also played a vital role, showing their continued dedication to the Dragon.
